Nashua Breezes Easy Seven Panels Aqueduct Workout Clocked in 1:31 f Fisherman, Parlo, Eiffel Blue and Blessbull Drill Over Fast Belmont Strip AQUEDUCT, L. I., • N. Y., May-* 10.— Nashua, who may attempt to pass Citations money winning record~at Garden State Park a week from Saturday, was given an easy trial at this track this morning. The big son of Nasrullah, who won last Saturdays Grey Lag Handicap at Jamaica, breezed seven furlongs in 1:31% under Bill McCleary, who didnt ask him for speed at any stage of the prep. His fractions were a galloping :39, :52, 1:05 and 1:17%, while he romped out a mile in 1:46%. It has been noticeable since his return from Florida that Mr. Fitz has gone a little easier with the handicap star than he did during the winter, when he was faced with the problem of getting him up to a hard race in the Widener without benefit of a prep event. incidentally, all of the Long Island tracks were fast this morning, despite occasional drizzles and a threat of snow during the night. On the main track at Belmont Park, Woody Stephens sent Morris Sims Blessbull a handy five furlongs in 1:00% as a final for his appearance in Mondays six-furlong Toboggan Handicap at Belmont. The son of Bless Me, who has been somewhat of- a disappointment thus far this spring, finished well, which he has not been doing in his races. Danny Arnsteins Eiffel Blue, one of Ihe favorites for Saturdays Withers Stakes at a mile and a sixteenth at Jamaica, breezed an easy five panels in 1:02 on the main track at Belmont. He was under a light hold all the way. Fisherman Breezes C. V. Whitneys Fisherman, who showed vast improvement over earlier 1956 efforts when narrowly beaten by Nashua and Find in the Grey Lag, possibly because Hedley Woodhouse was back in the irons, was hardly more than galloping as he breezed five furlongs in 1:03% on Belmonts main track. He may be seen at Garden State Park on Saturday, or the following weekend in the Valley Forge or Camden Handicaps. Also on the main track at Belmont, Fox-catcher Farms Parlo, who has yet to make her seasonal debut, but may be seen in the Top Flight Handicap at a mile and a sixteenth on May 26, breezed an impressive mile in 1:41%.. She was being snugged as she skipped the fractions in :50% and -1 :15%. The same stables Chevation breezed a clever mile and a furlong in 1:54, with fractions of :49%, 1*14% and a mile in 1:41. It was a good move for the erratic son of Alibhai, who also may be seen at Garden State in the two handicaps mentioned. Mrs. Joe Goodwins grand mare, Oil Painting, indicated that she is about ready to return to the races this morning when she broke alertly from the gate, then zipped an easy five furlongs in 1:01. Greentree Stables occasionally brilliant Maharajah, who is prepping for a comeback at Belmont Park, stepped a handy seven furlongs in 1:27% with Ted Atkinson in the saddle. The gray horse is beginning to move well. Over at Jamaica, Frank C. Rand Jr.s Prince Morvi indicated further progress with seven furlongs in 1:26%, handily. This Australian was unable to win in Florida last winter, but showed considerable promise and was a derby winner in his native land. Now .that he has become acclimatized, the invader may prove formidable, particularly on "toc, ;. , At the same track, R. O. J. Streubers Pioe jl*. iu.o xxiay nave been one of the better claims of the season, stepped a handy five furlongs in 1:01%. He just gal- loped in an allowance race last out.
