STREAKING went to the front at once to open up a long lead in the first six furlongs, then resisted stubbornly when SITO challenged on the stretch turn and after a slight brushing match with the latter drew out again near the end. SITO made a bold bid on the outside of the leader around the stretch turn, but faltered in the final drive. BOOKWORM raced evenly, but failed to . threaten for the leadership. MR. PLAY RON was closest to CUPOLA CAST for half the distance, then took command when the latter began to weaken and withstanding a mild challenge from QUEEN APACHE after entering the stretch drew away again near the end. QUEEN APACHE moved up in the stretch and while failing to carry through was easily best of the rest. WAR OBART made a promising ritove while saving ground around the far turn but did not become dangerous. IMPERIAL ACE weakened near the finish. RIGHT STAR and WISE MAID were badly outrun. POISE was well placed early and moving up to catch JUMBO LIES at midstretch, went gamely to the end and won but narrowly. JUMBO LIES set the pace and raced strongly after being headed to make it close at the end. REBOUNDER raced fairly well up. PRINCE ADARIS made a promising move nearing the stretch turn and then weakened. The others failed to threaten.
