Koptyra Rides Three Winners at Ascot Park Apprentice Registers Aboard Cosmic Lass in Maple Heights By W. A. CRUSE ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. May 13. — Apprentice Michael Koptyra completed a triple score on the afternoons card when he piloted J. P. Kulzers Cosmic Lass to victory in the Maple Heights Purse here this afternoon. It is the third time during the meeting that a rider has ridden three winners. Jockey Owen Headley, who was the leading rider until Koptyras triple this afternoon, has accomplished the feat twice. This is the first time at this meeting that Koptyra has scored with three. For this afternoons third, he had the good-looking Cosmic Bomb filly a length and one -quarter in front of the Leclaire Stables Boots Away and jockey Clyde H. James. The time over the strip, which is as near fast as it can be, was 1:22%. The largest Daily Double of the current meeting 64.00 was recorded here this afternoon after C. S. Jones Urban won the first race and Mrs. M. Mezens Honey Skelter was victorious in the second. Thomas Lattarulo was astride Urban to have this three-year-old Steel Bull colt a half a length in front of W. P. Bells Circle Baby and apprentice Michael Koptyra. The time for the seven furlongs over the slow racing strip was 1:30% and a 9.00 mutuel was posted. Koptyra, after finishing second in the first race, was in a great deal responsible for Honey Skelters victory in the second. At the end of the six and one-half furlongs which was negotiated in 1:24"%, the winner was five lengths the best of Wayne Kendricks Lochmel and the veteran sad-dlesmith, Buck Thornburg. Honey Skelter was the favorite in the betting and returned .80, .20 and .40 across the board. Koptyra turned in his second victory of the day astride C. L. Hubbles Chozn Coil in the fifth on the card. This victory put him one ahead of jockey Owen Headley who had 27 visits to the winners circle beginning today, and Koptyra had 26. For his second score he sent Chozn Coil six and one-half furlongs in 1:23% to be a half a length the best of R. M. Escribas Baseball Bob and his arch rival in the riding colony, Owen Headley.
