One-Eyed King in Fast Mile Work Clocked in l:382/s At Belmont Course Heavy Fog Envelops Three Long Island Tracks; Cavort In 1:1446 Six-Furlong Drill BELMONT PARK. Elmont. L. I., N. Y., May 13. — A heavy fog enveloped all three Long Island tracks during the early hours this morning, with the result that many horses could not be accurately timed. However, Cain Hoy Stables One-Eyed King, a Preakness possibility, sped a highly impressive mile in 1:382.-. on the main track at Belmont Park working alone. His fractions were :48, 1:0023 and 1:132.-,. and he galloped out a mile and a furlong in 1:52. Greentree Stables Cohoes, who made an impressive return to racing at Jamaica and is being brought up to the Belmont Stakes by not-too-easy stages that do not include the Preakness. breezed seven furlongs in 1:28 for John Gaver on the main track this morning. He was under a snug hold and work-watchers peering through the mist thought he might have gone a full mile. Carter Handicap Prospect Work-watchers, including trainers, appeared more impressed with the six-furlong prep of Clearwater Stables Cavort on the training track here Sunday morning than with the moves of anything else working on the week end. Though Gaorge D. Wide-ners Patrolman Pete was clocked a tick faster, the three-quarters in 1:14% of Cavort was decidedly more impressive. Al Pu-pinos charge is believed to be pointing for the 0,000 Carter Handicap at Belmont Park on Memorial Day. though that stakes does not close until Wednesday. Among other good trials on the comparatively deep and slow training track Sunday morning were the five furlongs of Circle If Farms Olympia Dell in 1:03%, and the six panels of Eastern Shore and War Eagle, who worked together in 1:15. All of these moves were accomplished in handy style on the strip which was termed •good." There were relatively few preps of any significance on the main track, which was sloppy Sunday morning. Gay Warrior, who has not been displaying his usual early speed in recent races, flashed a handy three furlongs in :3533. while the versatile Secant went a mile in 1:40. He was accompanied by Langton Breeze part of the way. but the latter couldnt keep up and was clocked in 1:43. John A. Morris Missile, who was more visible, impressed with six furlongs in 1:1325 on the main strip, which was fast this morning. Maine Chance Farms Wise Apple went the same distance in 1:13, accompanied for as far as he could go by Legal Crisis. The latter was timed in 1:14%. Cain Hoy Stables good filly, Nile Lily, breezed five panels in 1 :01 after being all but thrown down as she went the first half mile in :49. She is expected to be one of j the favorites for the Acorn Stakes on June 3. At Jamaica this morning, Barclay Stables often underrated Poll-O-Mine breezed six furlongs in 1 :1625. while the recent winner. Place Kick, stepped the same distance in 1:1515. Nothing noteworthy was observed at Aqueduct either Sunday or this morning.
