AT SUNRISE, steadied while in slightly close quarters in the run down the backstretch, came to the outside when clear to move up steadily and wore down the leaders in midstretch. LUCILE MANETTE saved ground and finished strongly. HUES0 lacked early speed as usual and closed a big gap while weaving his way through between horses. HELIANTHUS was never a serious factor. BLUE GODDESS was void of early speed while racing greenly, swung wide when rallying on the final turn and, with a belated rush, wore down HATS OFF near the end. The latter engaged READY CHANGE from the outside early, put that one away entering the last quarter mile, drew clear and, while unable to resist the winner, was easily best of the others. FLEETING CLOUD was well placed but failed to respond when called upon. COLLINA raced evenly. READY CHANGE was used up early. BAYLUC moved to the front from the inside when ALMOND HILL bore out entering the backstretch, drew clear while being rated and was all out through the stretch to stall off CASUAL FRIEND. The latter, unhurried early, came to the inside while advancing and was easily best of the others. RAPID SONG was through early. GUDA MAZA was forwardly placed for three-quarters and flattened out when the real test came. ALMOND HILL bore out on both turns. ASSEMBLYMAN made all the pace under good rating, saved ground and, in a stiff drive, lasted over INSIDE TRACT. The latter .unhurried early, swung wide when rallying in the late stages and, while lugging in through the stretch run, was getting to the winner. TENACIOUS dropped back at the start, responded when called upon in the stretch and was going strongly at the end. ETERNAL FLAME was never a serious factor. The latter forced the early pace while in hand, wore down PINE ECHO when ready in the early stretch but had little left to repel the belated bid of the winner. GAY WARRIOR had no apparent excuse in an even effort. NEW HOLRLAND was never a serious factor. PINE ECHO stooped badly after showing high speed to the early stretch.
