9 Appreciation Day At Lincoln Downs NineSeasoned Sophomoresin McAuley Cap; Admission Free to Track, Car Drawing By ELI CHI AT LINCOLN DOWNS, Lincoln, R. I.. May 13. — Free admission to both grandstand and clubhouse, a 10 -race program headlined by the 0,000 Bill McAuley Handicap, the net proceeds of the tenth race donated to the local Red Cross Fund, and the opportunity of taking home a new Buick and /on Pontias by some fortunate male and female fan in attendance, is the menu here Tuesday when the Burrillville Racing Association presents Appreciation Day in honor of the 10th year of racing at this plant. It promises to be one of the biggest days of the New England racing season with expectations that over 20,000 will be present for the multi-attraction afternoon. The McAuley will be run for the second %time in the hopes of keeping green the memory of the late and beloved Boston turf writer and handicapper who passed away in 1955. This seven furlongs event will be contested by nine three-year-olds. alLof whom have been winners this year. Winner Earlier in Meeting Topping the McAuley field with 118 pounds is Robert Curleys Supper Money. a winner here earlier, in the meeting, but unsuccessful in a subsequent engagement at New York. The Olympic Zenith colt returned here several days ago and rates as one of the choices as he attempts to annex his first handicap victory of the year. In his winning essay here, he romped to a length and one-half triumph over Proud Boy in 1:I1K over a sloppy tra.ck. Peter Fullers Challefont, under 116 pounds, holds a slightly tainted victory over Big Paddy to his credit. After finishing in the runner-up position behind Big Paddy in an allowance race, the stewards saw fit to disqualify Big Paddy for bumping Challefont leaving the gate. While this is Chal-lefonfs only score 6f the season, he has been close up in most of his engagements. Elmer Reibers Satan Helper and Mrs. C. Botticellos Taclos are equally weighted at 115 pounds. Each has a pair of victories to their credit this year, both leaving the maiden ranks in their 1957 campaigns. Sa-ton Helper was conditioned here earlier in the session and then was sent to Laurel where he ripped off two straight wins. He appears to have reached his full potential and must be given an excellent opportunity to make it three in a row. Taclos, claimed for ,500 from his last winning start, was one of the easiest winners of the meeting in that race. He covered the seven furlongs in l:282/s under a strong hold, turning in-a most impressive effort. This will be his first test against handicap performers. In with 114 pounds is Pete Bongarzones Zolt, another who has raced creditably here since starting his sophomore campaign. He forced Wing Again, considered the top three-year-old here, to the limit when beaten a nose and previously holds a decision over Challefont.
