Hunt- bred bv * W F Learh IN GATE-5:46. OFF AT 5:46 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start perfect. Won driving; second and third the same. KING HAIRAN broke alertly dueled for the lead outside of four horses down the backstretch and aradually drew into a clear lead on the turn saved around entering the stretch and withstood a hard drive to hold IRATE safe. The latter was hustled inpursuit of the leaders immediately after settling into stride, lost some ground on the outside rallying on the turn continued strongly in the stretch drive and was gradually gaining CLEM was reserved off the pace to the quarter note then was steered to the middle of the track at the head of the stretch and finished fastest of all TRUE VERDICT, between horses vying for the pace, had to be briefly steadied as KING HAIRAN went to the front on the final turn and weakened. SOFT DAY dropped back after a good beginning, raced between horses and finished well. BAKHT gave an even effort. HIGH SPARKLE was unhurried while being outrun and appeared unwilling coming between horses in the drive. LUCKY GEORGE and BANDIT vied for the lead for three furlongs and faltered. PRINCETON also vied for the early lead but was pulled back from between horses entering the far turn. Scratched— 10097 Barbizon, 124; 12282 Pro-Brandy. 121. Overweight— Irate, 1 pound; Bakht, 2.
