Handicap on Turf Top River Downs Offering Topweighted Rollicker Clashes With Benzel-Amphiblen Entry By W. A. CRUSE RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, May 31. Racing secretary James P. Ross Jr. has arranged an attractive nine-race card for tomorrow, headed by u.3 initial running of the ,700 River Downs Handicap at one mile over the turf course. In the River Downs Handicap -the top impost of 116 pounds has been assigned to M. M. and W. P. Littles Rollicker. The well-proportioned Flushing n. filly has already proven her ability to handle the turf course. In fact, last Saturday she showed her preference -for the turf and galloped to a three and one-quarter lengths score over C. E. Gibsons Concentrator. The time for the mile on the turf was a rather commendable 1 :41 and she was handled by the veteran jockey W. D. .Lucas. The pah should prove a formidable duo in this field and will be in line for support in the betting. Next in consideration so far as weight is Continued on Page Fifty-Five Handicap on Turf Top River Downs Offering Topweighted Rollicker Clashes With Benzel-Amphiblen Entry Continued from Page One concerned is Benzel, which is coupled with Amphiblen, as the C. Bertazon and Mrs. P. M.- Locke entry. Benzel is to carry 114 pounds and the stablemate is in with 112. Though Benzel is accorded the greatest honor in allotment, Amphiblen could be the one of the pair to fear. The three-year-old Ampitheatre stallion won the Cincinnati Enquirer Purse last Saturday through a disqualification. It will be interesting to note his performance over the turf and a similar effort to the one he displayed, along with a bit of racing luck, -would make him a strong candidate for the major portion of the purse. J. W. Mcllvain and Doug Davis Jr.s My Dust is in with one pound less than Benzel and has been assigned 113. -The tour-year-old Papa Redbird colt is another who cannot be disregarded, particularly with this impost. He finished a bang-up second to W. L. Curies Mintaway in the Memorial Day Handicap last Thursday. An improvement over that effort is expected, particularly since he is picking up but three pounds over his weight allotment in that affair. Last year he won here at the mile and 70 yards distance in 1:41 and carried a similar impost to what he will carry tomorrow. Completing the field are G. Breedloves Howard County, 112; the Gateway Stables Big Steve with 107, and who will be making a debut at the meeting and the Celina Stables All Gone, who will carry 110 pounds and could upset on a peak effort. The Western Hills, the secondary offering, has a flashy field headed by E. A. Bischoffs King Phalanx. The six-year-old gelding won impressively here last Monday, covering a mile and 70 yards in 1:44. King Phalanx will tote high weight of 120 pounds, along with Marmion and Quizzed. The latter is an entry of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Maxwell, along with Joli Dou.
