Beulah Park Stages Final Program of Season Today Allowance Event, Marathon Test Serve as Companion Features By A. L. SHIELDS BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 31. An allowance race for sophomores and" an endurance test for four-year-olds and older horses corfeature the program here for Saturday when the curtain drops on the 19-day meeting. The marathon, final event on the nine-race card, will find 11 stout-hearted equines matching strides over the one and one-quarter mile distance. Probable favorite is Jaconet, aged mare in the George Stribling stable. This daughter of Strolling Player or Jacopo won a race over this same distance here Wednesday after being installed the 8-to-5 favorite. Esteeco, Bullrocket and Even Better; also in the Wednesday marathon, will return for another try at outrunning Jaconet. Of these three, Esteeco looms the most dangerous. Tins one was prominent throughout the midweek contest but finished third, also trailing King Midas across the finish line. Others in Saturdays test of speed and stamina are Tattoo Kid, Avenida, Queen Med, Dr. Ci, Dasheff, Cider and Pipe Dream. The allowance race for three-year-olds occupies the eighth position on the program and will bring out a field of nine. Brat Baby, Eddie OBrien, Dance Again and Oddkap probably will vie for favoritism, although any or all of the others Imperial Betty, Goddess Athena, Irish G., Sashay Star and Try for Me could be dangerous. Conditions for Saturdays races, as written by racing secretary Owen E. Pons, proved so popular with the horsemen that six of the nine events attracted capacity! fields. j The largest crowd of the meeting 8,663 1 turned out for" the holiday card Thurs- day and wagered 90,457 on the nine races. E. W. Schmitts Pecan ran the six furlongs in 1:10, only three-fifths of a second off the track record, in accounting for the Swan Cleaners Memorial Day Purse. Bless Me Lady established the track mark May 31, 1952. The R. B. Berini Stable registered a double with Venturesome in the second race and Money Honey in the fifth.
