Ponder Boston Doges Poor Effort in Carter Handicap BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 31. Paul Andolino said this morning that he was unable to account for the bad race turned in by his Boston Doge in yesterdays Carter Handicap. The colt finished last after showing none of his usual speed. Andolino said he thought it possible possible that the son of The Doge might be suffering a virus condition, though he had not yet showed any temperature. He added that the colt had been bumped slightly leaving the gate, which might have caused him to sulk, but pointed out that he had always been a willing horse, both morning and afternoon, which made that a doubtful explanation.
