Vasil Riding at River Downs RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, May 31. Jockey Angelo Vasil is a new addition to the riding colony at River Downs. Vasil, a native of Yugoslavia, came to the United States with his uncle shortly after World War II and now makes his home in Gary, Ind. The 110-pounder started his career at Garden State Park and rode his first winner aboard Pollys Delay at Gulfstream Park in 1949. Prior to his arrival at the Queen City oval Vasil plied his trade at Bowie and Waterford Park. In 1952, Vasil placed high in the jockey standings at Arlington Park, Washington Park and Hawthorne. , H
