-. . Seven to Compete For Omaha Honors Jimmy the One Totes 119 To Beylerbeys 116 Today In Mile, 70 Yards Offering By DEAN WILLIAMS AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., May 31. Olin Sledges Jimmy the One, carrying 119 pounds, and A. H. Kroghs Beylerbey, second highweight at 116 pounds, will vie for top honors in the Ak-Sar-Ben Governors Handicap at one mile and 70 yards here Saturday. The ,000 feature will also bring out Royal Mon, O. Gay, Calloway K., Rida Broom and Step Alone. Jimmy the One raced in the best form of his career during the 1956 season. The six-year-old son of Bernborough won five races last year, earning 0,025. In Omaha he carried the orange and black silks of Sledge to. victory in the Ak-Sar-Ben Queens Plate Handicap. His come-from-behind style of running, also carried him into the runner-up position, in the Governors, Queens Plate and George Brandeis Memorial Handicaps. The best form displayed during the current season by Jimmy the One was in the Southland Handicap at Oaklawn Park. The local favorite came from far off the pace to finish fourth behind Sir Tribal, Styrun-ner and Perfector. Beylerbey Has Impressive Record Beylerbey has a much more impressive record over the years than Jimmy the One. The Krogh gelding gained his first victory of the year at Santa Anita, then went on to Turf Paradise in Arizona, where he entered the winners circle on three occasions. His most recent winning effort came in the Turf Paradise Handicap, in which he defeated Royal Mon and Six Fifteen. Trainer, E. E. Presnell sent Beylerbey to the post in the Inaugural Handicap at six furlongs for his first appearance at Ak-Sar-Ben this year. The son of War Admiral and Bridal Flower found the sprint distance too short and was unable to catch the front-running Y Bond. He finished full of run and should be ready for a top effort in the Governors Handicap. ! W. J. Lewis Jr.s Royal Mon, who will be asked to carry 114 pounds in Saturdays top offering, turned in a very dull performance in his only appearance over the local course. The dark gray gelding was able to finish no better than eighth behind First Refusal and Revetment. His record of two j wins and four seconds in eight starts this I year makes it apparent that this was far off of his best race. A return to his good form which he held earlier in the season would give him a chance to gain top honors in the Saturday feature. The fine Saturday nine-race program will be supported by three allowance tests carded as the fourth, fifth, and sixth races. All three drew top fields and would ordinarily be carried as feature events on any other day than a Saturday. The sixth race, the Roseben Purse, drew a field of 12 top sprinters, including such i stars as Butch K., Fabrication, Harmony Wise, Latin Lover, Ban Sen, Bar Chip, Gallant Hill, Gold Patch, Dupatta, Laird Star, Ambor Reigh and Fire Fire Fire.
