The list of tenants includes Shirley Booth, Leonard Bernstein, Blanche Thebom, Ethel Colt Barrymore, Dane Clark, Ralph Bellamy, etc. We were chatting with Jacqueline Hughes, the lady who manages this beautifully kept building which was created by Stanford White. "We also have a ghost living here," she mentioned casually, "who stalks around every now and then." Mrs. Hughes ex-, plained, "I havent seen him, myself, but one of the tenants tells me that he gives her a nice comfortable feeling. She says hes very tall and hes got a big pocket watch and he sort of keeps an eye on things." "Do you know where he came from?" I asked. Mis. Hughes explained that the legend goes that a Mr. Reginald Taylor was inadvertently sealed up in one of the walls many years ago when the building was being remodeled. I decided not to let Mrs. Hughes get the drop on me. "I imagine that would make him. a very angry ghost A troublemaker." "Oh, not at all," she said, "he certainly wouldnt scare any of the tenants. Why, the Talyor family has owned this building for years."
