Although well backed in the Edgemere, being third choice behind Third Brother and Riley, the four-year-old son of Greek Song — Spy Ship was outrun throughout, finishing about seven and one-half lengths behind the winning Admiral Vee. Oddly enough, he defeated Admiral Vee in an allowance race at Hialeah last winter while burdened "with 125 pounds. He does his best running from behind the pace and he should find the mile and one-quarter "of the handicap to his liking. He earned third position behind Traffic Judge and Dedi cate in the Metropolitan Handicap prior to his dismal" effort in the Edgemere. Lofty Peak Races Well on Grass Lofty Peak has done most of his campaigning this year over the grass course, winning two allowance events in addition to an allowance -victory over the dirt track in his last. He holds decisions over Jabneh, Lovely Wave and Blue Choir over the inner course, while he defeated First Served and others in his last triumph over the main track. - The acceptance of the issue by Greek Spy ana Lofty Peak raised the list of possible starters at this early date to 10 with eight of these already on the grounds and prepping for the race. Among the local stars expected to do battle with the classy invaders for the rich purse are Colella and Formas Switch On, Sam Tufarios Wise Margin, Mrs. J. A. Leones .Rockcastle, Mc-Ivor Frickettfs Motor Line, Mrs. Helen W. Kellogg Come On Red, W. J. Beatties Park Dandy, Circle K. Farms Blusionist and Ken Kelmans Grand Canyon. As the field shapes up light now it bears the possibility of being one of the largest in the traditional history of the race and the most wide-open event in all its runnings. While including many of the stars of the American turf, this edition of the Massachusetts presents an evenly matched line-up that cannot miss turning this mile and a quarter journey into a wire-to-wire battle. Greek Spy and Lofty Peak are expected to be unloaded at nearby Logan International Airport from which point they will be vanned to- the track.
