Three lengths farther back, Stanley C. Mikells Repetoire, who contributed to the choices defeat in a skirmish over the early furlongs, finished third before Chit Chat in a field of seven assembled for this race honoring Bardstowns noted dam. Madok sped over the distance in a stylish 1:11% in fast going and returned a resounding 8.00 for in the tote. The defaulting choice went down gallantly while carrying 124 pounds and conceding the winner, ridden by Anthony Russo, six, the third to finish 12. Second Straight at Stanton The Twilight Tear marked the second success in as many starts at the meeting for the four-year-old altered son of Mana-dor, but he was lightly dismissed by most formists as out of his depth in this affair. Madok was steadied along well off the pace while, Repetoire and Star Rover engaged in a head-to-head duel for the slightest advantage going the first quarter in :22% and half mile in :45%. Early in the stretch run, it still appeared a virtual match race. But Madok was gaining rapidly on the outside as Repetoire weakened just inside the eighth pole, and in the last sixteenth he wore down the gray to win going away. Mrs. Audrey Feigenbaums Manormouse became the holder of the mile and three-furlong turf course record when he took the fifth race, the first event ever run at the distance here. The five-year-old son of Priam II. won easily under Joe Regalbuto in time of .2:20%, enjoying a three and one-half lengths over John A. Mayos odds-on favorite, Baroda Boy. Ford O. Rogers Orions Belt was third behind the chance. The fifth race was rather contradictory from a medical standpoint when Healthy was the winner by two lengths over Hay Fever. The winner, owned by Walter Hill and ridden by Tony Russo, was timed in 1:01 for five furlongs and paid 0.20. Hay Fever, owned by Mrs. Bayard Sharp, nosed out Mrs. William G. Christmas Starward Bound.
