ALPINE WHITE raced evenly within striking distance of HALF NELSON to the stretch, responded readily when set down in the drive and, taking command .while passing the furlong post, won going away. HALF NELSON took an early lead, raced HOURS LATER into defeat and continued willingly but could not withstand the top one. BIG BAD W. gradually worked way forward to the " stretch, drifted to the outside for the drive but was unable to reach the leaders. ROBANDO held on well to the last eighth mile and then weakened. DO DOIT lacked early foot and was never dangerous: CORRELATOR had no excuse. BIG IDEAS began slowly. ENVITE had no mishap. BLUE STORM showed little. JOE TUCKER had brief speed. LONG BEAM tired. HOURS LATER engaged HALF NELSON for a half mile and then gave way. QUESTMENOW raced wide throughout. LOUKENMAC gradually worked way forward to the stretch, was taken out for the drive and, fnishing strongly under brisk urging, disposed of ROYAL SPY and held HATE WAR safe. The latter, outrun to the last quarter mile, closed fast under punishment but was unable to overtake the winner. TUCKAROE gave a good effort. ROYAL SPY began fast, made the pace until well inside the stretch but failed to stay when challenged by TUCKAROE. ZACADOGE was oiitrun~and had no mishap. ROLLICK could not keep up and drifted out during the stretch run. LADY BEAVER had early speed but bore out through the stretch while tiring. Tuckaroe claimed by H. L. Lewis, trainer E. MONTAUK, in hand early, moved up boldly approaching the upper turn, was unable to reach GENTLE KNOCK when set ■town in the drive but was much the best of the others. POINT PLEASANT, alertly ridden, took command at once, reached the final furlong with a clear margin and increased that advantage when briskly handled during the late stages. QUESTAR drifted out. after the break, closed willingly under punishment but wets unable to reach the winner. MAE EAST bore to the inside after the start, made up ground when straightened up but, could not overtake QUESTAR. "WENDASY drifted out after the break, held on well throughout but was unable to threaten the leaders. JENORSE had a rough race. FOREWORD bumped with RIBBONS AND BOWS after the break. SPY STORM could not keep up. EFFICIENT lacked early foot. BLACK DOT was through early. RIBBONS AND BOWE bumped with FOREWORD immediately after the start and failed to stay after showing early speed. SLIDER, never far back, was caught in close quarters at the stretch turn when TRACE drifted to the outside, responded readily when set down in the drive and, after taking command, held WAR EAGLE safe. WAR EAGLE moved up boldly approaching the stretch, was forced wide at the turn when TRACE crowded SLIDER to the outside, and then closed willingly, but could not overtake the winner. A foul claim against SLIDER by WAR EAGLES rider was not allowed by the stewards. TRACE, much used racing with NECROMANCER to the stretch, bore out at the turn, forcing SLIDER on WAR EAGLE, and then faltered during the last sixteenth. - PATH OF GOLD lacked early foot but finished welt under brisk handling. ONE STROKE, outrun early, could not reach serious contention when set down through the stretch. OMER showed nothing. SOLO FLIGHT had early speed but bore1 out badly during the last quarter mile. BAYLUC, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the middle of the track for the drive and, closing extremely fast under punishment, wore down the leaders and won going away. KINGS CHAPEL, forwardly placed from the start, saved ground at the final turn and settled into the stretch with a good lead but was unable to withstand the top one, although much the best of the others. ROSCOE MANEY raced well to the last eighth mile and then weakened. AT HAND lacked early foot and was never dangerous. GREAT GRANT took command early, set the pace to the stretch while engaging ROSCOE t MANEY but had nothing left for the drive. NOBLE DRAKE was through early. Scratched— 1 31722 Maenad, 113.
