Career Boy in Fast Belmont Work Turns Six-Furlong Distance in 1:125 Yhitneyite Equipped With Blinkers; Cohoes Sent One Mile in 1 AOYs for Withers By Staff Correspondent BELMONT PARK, Elmpnt, L. L, N. Y., June 20. — After being paddocked yesterday as one of the last steps prior to beginning a comeback, C. V. Whitneys Career Boy stepped on the main track here this morning equipped with blinkers and ripped off a highly impressive six furlongs in 1:12% v on the lightning fast track. Gunner Boy joined the dark, brown son of Phalanx for the last half mile and was clocked in :48%, both going along handily. Career Boy has not been to the races since finishing a creditable fourth in the Prix de lArc de Tri-omphe at the Bois de Boulogne on the fringe of Paris, France, last fall preceded by the mighty Ribot, Talgo and Tanerko. Some observers thought he might have been closer with the services of a jockey familiar with that up-and-downhill course. Greentree Stables Cohoes, who was scratched from the Belmont Stakes after beating Inside Tract, who finished second to Gallant Man in that classic, turned in a clever mile in 1:40% for nevt Mondays 5,000 Withers Mile. Working alone and under a light hold, he stepped the half mile in :50 and three-quarters in 1:144,£, with a final quarter in :251s. CCA Oaks Hopefuls Train King Ranchs Here and There, who will be ridden by Ted Atkinson in Saturdays 0,000 Coaching Club American Oaks, was only asked to run the last part of a creditable mile in 1:43%. Hal Price Headleys Pillow Talk, who is also in the CCA Oaks, but has not indicated in her recent races that she wants to go anything like a mile and three furlongs, skipped, a handy five furlongs in 1:00%. Claiborne Farms Bayou, the likely odds-on choice for this fixture, was hardly more than galloping as she breezed a half in :49. Maine Chance Farms speedy Myrtles Jet, who is at her best when fresh, blazed three furlongs in :34. Mrs. W. Thorn Kissels Nances Rule, a full brother to the brilliant Nances Lad, showed that he is coming along steadily when turning in three furlongs in :34% this, morning. The son of Slide Rule from Nances Ace has numerous stakes engagements, though he is not in next Wednesdays National Stallion. Christiana Stables occasionally classy Thinking Cap, who is in tomorrows featured seventh race here, blew out three panels in :38 on the slower and deeper training track. William Ewings Alibhai Lashes breezed a half mile in :52 on the same mile oval for the same race. . Over at Aqueduct, a pair of maiden three-year-old stablemates of Gallant Man, the lightly raced Gray Man and the non-starter Royal Clove, went a handy half mile in :49%. The latter is a handsome son of Royal Charger.
