OFF AT 5:05 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won ridden out; second and third driving. MISS ARLETTE was outrun to the stretch, then moved up strongly to find an opening after passing midstretch and. coming through, took command to win under hand urging. MAROONED was never too far away and staged a game finish but just lasted to beat LADY SWORDS. The latter trailed early, then came to the outside of several horses in the stretch to finish fast and gamely. FIGHTING JURY began rather slowly but got through next to the rail to reach the front, then continued well after being headed by SO on the stretch turn to again catch the latter, but was used up from her early efforts. DANCING was closest to FIGHTING JURY for about five furlongs and then began to weaken. SO cut the corner on the stretch turn to take a short advantage but faltered in the final drive. RUDYS VALLEY made a good charge in the last sixteenth and went well to the end. LEGATEE set the pace under light restraint and only gave way in the last few yards. ROYAL PURSUIT moved up on the inside in trfe stretch and might have won had he found sufficient racing room. BILLTOWN closed fast too late. STRIKING HOUR and MOTORAMIC tired in the stretch.
