J. H. Casey Hayes Resigns As Trainer for C. T. Chenery AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 12.— Christopher T. Chenery, owner and breeder of Hill Prince, Bryan G., Mangohick, Bakersfield and other fine horses, returned from his Virginia farm today and announced that trainer J. H. "Casey" Hayes had resigned, effective at the end of this month. Chenery said that he had not selected a successor to Hayes and added that their parting was entirely amicable. Hayes, who has been with Chenery for several years and has never trained for anyone else, said that he has had "a "couple" of offers to train other establishments. He has been in consultation with Mrs. Elizabeth N. Graham, mistress of Maine Chance Farm, but said yesterday that these conferences were merely friendly assistance. The Maine Chance string is currently being trained by Richard Whit-tington, formerly the stable foreman.
