COOPER LEADS AT AGAWAM Kentucky Youngster Pilots Twenty-Four Winners During Twelve Days for Percentage of .29. AGAWAM PARK, Maas., June 11. Jockey Arthur Cooper, 18-ycar-old apprentice from Anchorage, Ky., Is leading In the race for jockey honorH at Agawam Parkn thirty-seven day Hummer meeting. Cooper, contract rider for Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Wcant, In twelve days of riding at the western Massachusetts plant, has compiled a winning percentage of 29, which, on the basis of tho mounts he has accepted, Is easily the beat record achieved by any of the thirty-five-odd riders now making up the colony at Agawam Park. Cooper, In the first twelve days of the meeting, has had eighty-one mounts and of these he has brought twenty-four home in front. Fifteen other times he has been second and ten others third. He has been unplaced thirty-two times. The youthful Kentucklans nearest rival on the basis of mounts accepted Is E. Tucker, who in forty-eight times to the post has brought home ten winners, six placo horses, six show horses and was unplaced twenty-six times. Tuckers winning percentage is twenty. The veteran Jimmy Lynch, who had fifty-one mounts, has been In front eight times and unplaced thirty-one times. He has had seven place horses and five show horses and his percentage is .15. Competition between these riders at Agawam is certain to become increasingly keen during the ensuing weeks, because of the offer of James C. Thornton, general manager, to present a solid gold engraved watch to the leading rider of the meeting and a 5 weekly prize to the boy having the most winning mounts.
