1 FOREIGN TURF NOTES I 0 0 Robert Siever, noted plunger and famous as the owner of the brilliant mare Sceptre, who in 1904 was ruled off the turf only later to be restored to good standing, has reached the ripe old age of 76 and is reported in good health. The French colt Abjer, which failed, in the Derby, is slated to start in the Grand Prix de Paris on June 28. An English writer says "If the Kentucky Derby winner, Omaha, is not a great horse, better than Reigh Count and others which have visited our shores in the last twenty years, then his looks belie him." Sir Abe Bailey, which won the Epsom Oaks with Lovely Rosa, also had the satisfaction of knowing that his colors were carried successfully the following day in the Johannesburg Winter Handicap by his filly Suze, a three-year-old bred in South Africa, by the Sunstar horse, Sunstone from Clotida. The leaders on the English turf up to June 1 were Aga Khan heading the owners with winnings of over 0,000; Pay Up, the horses; Frank Butters, the trainers and Gordon Richards, the jockeys. Broadway, a recent winner of a selling plate in England, is by Monks Way Southern Kiss, which was purchased at the Saratoga yearlings, sales by his present owner Maj. G. M. Harbord and taken to England. This is his first season on the turf, being a two-year-old. William Woodwards Orangeman, a three-year-old by Sir Gallahad III. Moira Rhu, won the Penrhyn Cup at Hurst Park, England, June 1.
