H. C. HATCHS LUCK CONTINUES Pretty Patricia Latest "Winner for Canadian Establishment at Long-Branch Platers Day. TORONTO, Ont, June 11 With the better class performers kept under shelter through the failure of the better events to fill in proper fashion, a series of claiming races that produced large fields were the offerings listed for the second day of the Long Branch Jockey Club meeting at the suburban course Thursday. While the card was featureless, a crowd of good size turned out for the matinee and most interest centered on the running of the fourth event, a test of six furlongs that was for three-year-olds. The race was one of five that were decided over "six furlongs during the course of the afternoon, and it saw the luck of the H. C. Hatch barn holding out when Pretty Patricia was winner of the race, which engaged a field of seven. Ruling a short priced choice for the test and benefited by an intelligent ride from D. Brammer, the daughter of Justice F. and Lady Ship came from behind to capture honors oyer H. N. Hendersons Miss Joker, with C. Smythes Playful Boston an easy third over Eran Beach and the thi-ee others that met. The score of the ivinner marked the first success for favorites in the first four races and her score was exceedingly popular. Racing back in third place until reaching the turn into the front stretch while Eran Beach led the way, the Hatch miss surged to the, front when sweeping up on the, outside entering the home stretch, then showed her class to hold the fast-closing Miss Joker safe. At the end the winner prevailed by a length and one-half, while Miss Joker was a length before the faltering Playful Boston, which held second position to the final sixteenth.
