WESTERN RUN, fractious during the parade to the post but away well, wore STONECROP down after a half mile, responded to strong urging when tiring and held WINDSHIELD safe. The latter, under strong urging from the start, was wearing the winner down at the end. STONECROP took command under hustling tactics, was unable to draw clear, but held on gamely. DELANO ROSE had no mishaps. GAY 1 STREAMER raced evenly. MISS ALINE quit. DASAKI was outrun. BRIGHT PAT lost his rider at the start. SECOND RACE 5-8 MILE. Miss Dolphin, June 9, 1936 :58 2 115. IMPERIAL POLLY, going in her best form, tired after offering a mild bid approaching the stretch. TITANICAL, shuffled back at the stretch turn, came fast when clear. VIRNOCK, inclined to bear over at the start, held on well. STAR CLUSTER was in close quarters. DENBIGH was never a factor. BONICON quit. WITSON, away well but shuffled back soon afterwards, saved ground when improving his position, but tired near the end. IMPERIAL EBEE worked her wav forward throuch the field, but hung in the last stages. TRANSIT LADY sliowed a dull effort. YANKEE SKIPPER quit. CHIEFS PRIDE, away slowly and sent to the outside for room, was forced wide entering the stretch, was steered to the inside and held on well. LITTLE ARGO raced wide. BONYNGE had no mishaps. GLOWING COAL was shuffled back by the leaders and tired thereafter. HASTY HERMIT began from outside of the stalls and drew away rapidly, but tired in the drive. The latter, away slowest and outrun for five-sixteenths, was sent through the field when improving his position, responded well in the last sixteenth and finished in a dead heat with SOUTHERN WAY. FRAIDY CAT rushed into a clear lead early, gave way when challenged, saved ground at the stretch turn, again took command, but tired near the end. WHISKING, outrun for a half mile, finished strongly. THE PELICAN quit. COLONEL ED was done after three-eighths.
