DETROIT TURF NOTES j $ W. Crisp purchased the plater Mario from J. J. Conway. Robert Emmett Potts loaded the large Bomar Stable string and it left for Arlington Park. Jockeys J. Bryson and R. Knisley accompanied the shipment. Topped by Hollyrood, an eligible for the Classic, Whopper, a handicap star, and the stakes winning juvenile Apogee, the Hal Price Headley stable got away for Arlington Park Sunday. Earl Steffen is with the string and will do the major riding until Willie Saunders recovers from a shoulder injury. The first issue of condition books for the Dade Park meeting were received by Webb Everett and are being distributed among the horsemen. J. Haritos was suspended for five days for permitting Wild Pigeon to cross his field at the far turn. The stewards stated the suspension was made on the report of Frank Otis, the patrol judge. Johnny Mattioli returned from Latonia, I where he directed Spartas winning effort in the Latonia Oaks and was in colors Monday afternoon. A. L. Copeland, Jr., shipped the F. M. Alger, Jr., string to Arlington Park. William Zakoor shipped the three head he has here to Empire City. E. F. Seagrams Sablin was returned to Hamilton where he was sent to fill a stakes engagement.
