WEE WINKS GOOD EFFORT Runs One of the Best Races of: Her Career to Account for Agawams Headliner. AGAWAM, Mass., June 29. Al Dolana Wee Wink, chestnut daughter of Stimulus and Enslaved, ran one of the best races of her five-year-old career when she won the Saybrook Purse, feature race on the card at Agawam Park today. This was over the six furlongs distance for three-year-olds and upward. The Dolan mare took the measure of Mrs. E. Haughtons Gift of Roses, which was second, and Mrs. E. Nancolas Merovech was third with Sir Kai, from the Mrs. M. Eslick string, fourth, followed by Engles Boy and Say Do, which completed the field of six. Some Good, Package and Blakeen declined the issue. v Though the day started out dull, and dreary with sudden showers driving the large crowd to shelter at frequent intervals, the high wind that sprang up soon dispersed the rain clouds while Old Sol peeped through in all his glory. No time was lost at the start in the feature, with the entire field racing as one for fully a sixteenth of a mile before sTalley succeeded in getting Gift of Roses in the van, with Wee Wink next and the others gradually dropping back. As Gift of Roses set the pace she was racing along well in hand but Wee Wink, was at her heels and going just as easily with jockey Coule electing to allow the Haughton filly to maintain the lead until well around the stretch turn before he called upon Wee Wink for her best. Swinging into the straightaway, Wee Wink made her bid and though Jolley went to work on Gift of Roses it was to no avail as Wee Wink was full of run and not to be denied. Drawing level at the eighth post, the pair for many yards fought it out head and head, then Wee Wink forged past to draw away into a two-length victory while Gift of Roses held on to save the place by a length from Merovech.
