TOOTSIECAKE, showing speed from the start, took a short lead after reaching the turn, swerved out ntering the stretch and, coming again in the final eighth, outstayed BUSY MAE. The latter, in close quarters early and taken to the outside on the turn, closed stoutly under strong handling and was wearing down the winner. AMATEUR GIRL, shuffled back slightly in the early stages and cut off when approaching the stretch, came with good speed in the last eighth. SOLAR MAID, a strong factor from the start, raced to the lead on the inside in the stretch, then tired. PRINCESS BULL, eased to avoid the spill, did not threaten thereafter, but held on well. EVENING TIDE tired badly. MARY KEEN was in a contending position when she fell and LEGENDA fell over her. Photograph was used for checking the finish. Scratched 28366 Countess Reigh, 118. LEADING ARTICLE easily held DANDY JAY safe when making the early pace under restraint, increased his margin when entering the stretch and tired after three-quarters, but withstood ONWENTSIAS bid. The latter raced wide after the first three-eighths and, under strong pressure in the last three-eighths, held on with good courage. DANDY JAY, under energetic riding after the opening quarter, dropped back slightly when entering the stretch, then came again. MANAGER BILL, well up after the first quarter, raced gamely in the drive. REDRESS closed strongest. CHERRY TIME, taken back, was timidly ridden thereafter. SKALKAHOE could not get up. RED ROD was outrun. BOHEMIAN LASS failed to keep up. ROYAL LEON pulled up lame. Photo used for checking finish. JUDGE LEER, going in his best form and forced to race wide, was under snug restraint for a half mile, raced to the front gradually when straightened in the last three-sixteenths and won in hand. MR. JAMES forced the early pace under restraint, bore out slightly on the stretch turn and held on gamely in the drive. BARTERING KATE displayed the most speed from the start, saved ground throughout and tired after increasing her lead as if short. GRAND DUKE was Jorccd to lose ground and showed a Fine effort. GREENSPRING LAD was racing well up when impeded on the stretch turn and, despite bowing badly, held on courageously. CONTE was on the inside in the stretch. COTTINGHAM dropped out of it soon after the start. MAMAS CHOICE bore out badly. A photograph was used to check the finish. WHERE AWAY broke fast but was taken back and, under steadying restraint while being reserved off the pace, raced very wide when beginning to move up on the stretch turn, raced into a clear lead in the final eighth, then tired, but held PHAROSAY safe. The latter, placed on the outside at the start, took command quickly, was well rated and, although he readily submitted at the start, held on gamely and gained in the closing strides. THE FIGHTER, never far back, rallied to light pressure in the stretch, then tired. INFIDOX, well up from the start, also tired in the drive. BORN HAPPY closed fast on the outside. MICROBE held on well. COTTON CLUB began very slowly. PREEMINENT quit badly. ERIN TORCH met interference. NELLIE FLAG began slowly and was in hand throughout. TORO NANCY showed a flash of speed. WISE DUKE, slow to begin and raced wide the final half mile, passed tired horses in the stretch. DNIEPER began to tire after five-eighths and had no mishaps. DORAN failed to rally to pressure on the far turn and appeared to loaf, as if sulking thereafter. ALBANIA failed to keep up. GANNONNIC moved up with a rush on the inside on the second turn, but was held safe by the leaders. LATER ON, in hand early, was in close quarters on the stretch turn and failed to rally when clear.
