SEMESTER, taken under slight restraint during the early running while racing on the inside, challenged strongly entering the stretch after coming around his field, finished determinedly and was up in the last fifty yards. THE MINER, weakly handled while racing forwardly, finished on his own courage after his rider lost his whip during the closing eighth. BILLIE WISE raced in the first flight from the beginning, saved a lot of ground and continued with good courage to the end. MELOY moved into .a slight lead after five-eighths, but tired under punishment in the final eighth. PLAYING fell back leaving the back stretch, then came again nearinc; the end. NEWELL was outrun. CHALGO, permitted to gain his best stride before moving down into a forward position, moved up strongly approaching the stretch, came through between the leaders in the closing eighth and, finishing strong, drew out after taking the lead in the last sixteenth. ROMARCH, rated back of the pacemaker for the first five-eighths, rallied to punishment and closed with good courage. OSIRANDO displayed good speed to move clear, saved a lot of ground, but tired when challenged. ODD CATCH went to his knees when the break came, recovered, but could not reach the leaders. CALICO MISS sprinted into an easy lead early, was steadied until challenged, responded gamely when shaken up and outstayed SPEY CREST under a tenacious drive. SPEY CREST worked his way up on the outside, entered contention at the stretch run and finished gamely. CRIMSON ROCK was under strong handling from the beginning and continued willingly when placed in a severe drive. EILEEN D. tired after inoving up fast midway of the turn. MISSOURI JIM finished with a belated rush. SEA KALE was gaining steadily nearing the end. SUGAR JAR raced in dull fashion. LEO D. showed speed in the first five-eighths. WORTH TRYING was forced wide going to the first turn, was shaken up after gaining a forward position, but could not threaten seriously when the real test came. ALDWYCH held a contending position all the way but could not improve her position under severe punishment. DARK ROBINA lost ground while improving her position, but could not engage the leaders. ,SPEY FOX displayed speed in the early running. CAVE BOY was in trouble soon after the start and could not menace. TRICKY LADY broke well, but raced v"rv -rppnlv and swerved repeatedly after coming extremely wide into the stretch. WEE PRINCESS showed nice speed from the beginning and held on strongly in the final issue. BACKGROUND, away well but lacking early speed, closed full ol run in the last three-sixteenths. DARK DIANNE saved ground from the beginning and continued courageously in the final test. FIELD GOAL suffered slight interference at the first turn, found racing room thereafter, but could not threaten. OUR TROUBLE, kept within striking distance of the leaders, responded willingly when put to a drive, took command in the last eighth, but could not stall off the winner. BLUE DAMSEL, slow to get into racing stride, finished with a belated rush in the last five-sixteenths. RANCHERO raced prominently and held on gamely in the final drive. CHASTE MORN closed a good gap. MUSLET was outrun. FAN was used up early. MAJOR GENERAL tired. Overweight Light Blue, 2 pounds.
