CLEVELAND ATTRACTS RIDERS Thistle Down Jockey Colony to Be Large One Disqualifications Up to Stewards. DETROIT, Mich., June 29. That the Thistle Down meeting, which opens on July 7, will not want for good jockeys, was evidenced today when William Kelly, custodian of the jockeys room checked on the riders in Detroit, and a letter was received by director of racing Joseph A. Murphy from Edward A. Miller, who is looking after the interest of the meeting at Latonia, bringing the information that there would be a large number of riders at that point going to the meeting. Among the tatonia riders who announced their intention of going to Thistle Down are W. Hanka, N. Le Blanc, A. Fernandez, T. Dickinson, C. Swain, H. Beasey, R. Bemiss, E. Ramsey, W. Johnson, M. L. Fallon, "W Kern, H. Schutte, E. Fool, W. Carroll, J. Cowley, W. Garner, G. Fowler, M. Garner, A. Morgan, P. Roberts, G. South, G. L. Smith and Johnnie Maiben. The Detroit boys who will go are Glen Smith, C. Hanauer, C. Mojena, F. Kurinec, P. Camp, Li. Turner, J. Jacobs, T. Vercher, B. Thornton, V. Neal, R. Montgomery, E. Porter, J. Mattioli, N. Richardson, S. Erwin, E. Rodriguez and O. Webster. These will be supplemented by riders from Kansas City, Chicago and Omaha and also from the Ohio tracks. The management has decided that the jockey fees will be 0 for losing mounts and 5 for the winning mounts, the same as prevails at Detroit, Chicago and Latonia. It was also announced that with the permission of the racing commission, the rule permitting the stewards to use their own discretion as to the extent of disqualification in races where a foul is claimed, will prevail at Thistle Down. William Kelly spent Sunday in Cleveland putting the jockeys room in order and announced that everything was shipshape for the meeting.
