Early Arrival of Dusk Spurs Ollara to Action Narragansett Tark Opening October 23. PAWTUCKET, R. I., Oct 13. "There will be no more long parades and no more lengthy post delays at Narragansett Park," the part of a statement issued this morning by president Walter E. OHara that will be best appreciated by the regular New England racing fans. "We will not cut our programs during the fall meeting but Will continue to run eight races each day with minimum purse values maintained at ,000 is another part of the statement that will be most appreciated by horsemen. Narragansetts fall meeting opens on Friday, October 23, and runs through to November 11, during which period the shadows of sunset arrive increasingly earlier until 4:30 p. m. on closing day, with complete darkness due thirty minutes later. To cope with this situation OHara and his staff have set up a schedule with post time for the first race at 1:15, with subsequent races to follow at intervals of twenty-five minutes. This would bring the closing post time to approximately 4:10 p. m. and the fiery Irishman has given emphatic instructions that this time table be closely adhered to. It. is hoped the public will co-operate in the brisk running through of the program by getting their- business at the pari-mutuel windows accomplished earlier than usual.j but whether lines of would-be bettors are shut out or not, post time will be rigidly j kept. The "Daily Double" is to be continued on the first and second races, an arrangement which has received heartly endorsement from the fans who prefer quick action. More than 200 head of horses are on the grounds here and shipments are booked in from New York and Maryland. Practically every stable racing at Rockingham will break their journeys west and. south at Narragansett, and best news of all, Walter OHara is making every possible effort to secure several of the countrys leading jockeys to ride here during the meeting that will wind up a marvelously successful season.
