PLATERS DOMINATE PROGRAM Only Horses Preferring Heavy Track Under Colors at River Downs. Be Quiet Easy and Popular Winner in Fourth Event, With Indian -Lace Second O. Hernandez in the Limelight. CINCINNATI, Ohio, Oct 13. With fair weather again prevailing and the ladies the guests of the management,"another large crowd was present for the all-claiming race program offered at River Downs this afternoon. Due to track conditions, it was impossible, to card a feature and only those performers preferring a holding and trying track were under colors. However, the sport was formful and in several instances very thrilling. Eight plater three-year-olds met at six furlongs in the fourth and best offering, and it resulted in the third popular score and a "double" for apprentice Orlando Hernandez. The latter, a product of Cuba, brought the Figurin Stables Be Quiet to the finish an easy winner. Indian Lace, the second choice, carried the Collinsbrook Stables colors into second place, two and one-half lengths back of the winner and the same distance before . Lee Wee, which beat the fast-finishing Es-; copette a nose for third. Sturdy Boy, the third choice, was rushed into a clear lead during the opening furlong with the winner showing the way to the others. Sturdy Boy held an advantage to the stretch where Hernandez took Be Quiet to the outside for the best going and she soon attained a good margin. The inside was selected for Indian Lace and although she was unable to menace the winner was much the best of the others. Lee Wee moved into third place when Sturdy Boy retired and had enough left to outfinish Escopette. Another favorite was successful when ArthurrGaignard, Sr.s, Traggat led Pau T,, i Mystic Sign and four "others" to thei end tot i the, mile, and seventy .yards fifth .race. j Ridden by Tyrus Meiocheand rushed into a clear lead during- the ;run to the back stretch, Traggat gave way when he swung to the outside entering1 the stretch, but coming again under Meloches strong urging, wore down Mystic Sign to be slightly more than a length before Paul T. at the end. A popular victory came with the opening race, for maiden plater juveniles, when Col. Pete, a son of Hildur and Overplay, which race3 for Michon Bros., was an easy winner. Ballah was second and Job Printer third. Under Harry Louman, the winner sprinted into a good lead during the first quarter and after tiring in the stretch came again to be two and a half lengths before Ballah at the end. Pertladdie and Gustavia, which came in for good support, were always far back. Mrs. J. Burks Zipalong provided another popular score and -won his second race of the meeting when he turned back Arctic Land, Wise Cross and three others in the three-quarters second race. Forced to lose ground when racing forwardly and taken wide for the best going entering the stretch, the winner, which ;had the services of E. Rodriguez, wore Wise Cross down in the last furlong to be two and a half lengths before Arctic Land at the. end. Wise Cross, which -was rushed to the front on the inside, tired, and Arctic Land came again to head her for second honors. Princess A. O. won her second straight victory and furnished the "first surprise when O. Hernandez drove her to a head triumph overCatch Fly in the third , race, at six furlongs. Briny Deep, which enjoyed favoritism over Catch Fly;, was third, arid fourth went to Oddesa Clark. After racing Mohawk Cherokee into defeat during the opening five-sixteenths, the winner was unable to draw clear and gave way to Catch Fly when, she swung wide entering the stretch.
