IN STEP, away well, was taken back from the pace of SPANGLED JR., came to the outside of the leader Sn the stretch and, responding well to mild urging, drew out easily. RIVER CREST gradually improved his position on the inside and finished with good speed, but was no match for the winner. SPANGLED JR. had good speed to take the lead in the back stretch, saved ground on the turn, but tired. TABHER, away slowly, lacked speed to match the early leaders, but finished stoutly. KHAKI FULLER closed some ground at the end. BAGAMAC quit, as did BLUE WREN. FLY MISS .could not engage the leaders. LITTLE MODEL lost ground steadily. SPEY CREST, rated" off the pace of the early leaders, swung to the outside entering the stretch, responded well to wear down BIG ONE and was going away at the finish. BIG ONE raced on the outside of TOE DANCE, which was in the lead into the stretch, disposed of the latter to take a short lead, but could not withstand the bid of the winner. JUSTA JANE lacked speed to match the early leaders, secured room on the inside entering the stretch and finished stoutlr. MY LETITIA raced well placed throughout and finished with good courage. KOJI raced evenly. TOE DANCE quit. CUP WINNER could never engage the leaders. MARGIE LOU quit after flashing early speed. LINGSTER, rated close to the pace of CUVANNA and on the outside, moved into command easily in the stretch, drew clear without effort and was in hand at the finish. DAMICA, always a forward factor, swung to the outside in the stretch, made a determined bid to reach the winner, but was not good enough. SWEEP-. FAST lacked speed to match the leaders in the early stages, secured room on the inside in the stretch and finished very fast. FORE ISUS raced evenly, but could not better her position when placed to punishment. CUVANNA had early speed, but quit. UVA flashed speed, but could not keep up. TAXIMAN, always in contention, moved up threateningly in the stretch but tired in the final few yards. DENCLAIRE, reserved in the early stages, responded well at the end and was finishing fast. SASS had early speed, was taken back from the pace set by LIPTON, took a short lead in the stretch when LIPTON faltered, but tired. DARK MISSION could never engage the leaders. LIVE ONE, reserved in the early racing, moved up stoutly on the inside on the far turn, but was blocked, came to the outside to challenge the leaders in the stretch, bore over slightly to the inside and disposed of BLACK FALCON when straightened up. The latter, raced well placed throughout, moved into a short lead in the stretch, did not suffer materially when LIVE ONE swerved and held on well. LADY MARNOCK, a trailer in the early stages, moved up stoutly when leaving the back stretch and finished fast. EASTER HATTER had good speed to set the pace, but tired in the final eighth. FEZ Hashed early speed but quit. LISTARO could not enter contention. PLAIN BEN was never a serious factor. ALCODEMA had good speed to go to the front immediately following the start, was rated in the lead throughout, disposed of BELLE FILLE in the stretch, and held YELLOW METAL safe. The latter, closer up than usual in the early stages, came to the outside through the stretch and finished fast. BELLE FILLE. close to the pace of the winner while racing under restraint, failed to respond to punishment when called upon and tired at the end. HOMINY IMP, well placed from the start and saving ground on the inside, could not threaten seriously in the drive. MINTHERA could not improve her position. NATALIE MAE quit badly. HAPPY JESTER had speed to establish a short early lead, was well rated on the inside throuchout, saved ground on all turns and held MISSOURI JIM safe in the drive. The latter forced the pace of the winner throughout, made repeated bids for supremacy, but was not good enough. BETHANKFUL, taken back from the early pace, moved into contention after a half mile and finished stoutly under pressure. GEORGE E. MILLER gradually improved his position and finished very fast. CUDGELDOE raced evenly, but could not better her position. BARTON GAL quit. MISS GORMLEY lost ground steadily. HARDY BAN was never a factor.
