INNOVATIONS AT ARLINGTON Movies of Start and Finish at Large North Side Track Pictures for Public. ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., June 25. If Jimmy Jones, inventor of the "Lightning Eye" finish camera, can have the equipment set up in time, it is likely that two additional innovations to midwestern racing will be introduced at Arlington Park during the first week of the meeting opening on July 28. One of them will be a camera equipped with a special long-range lens to take a movie of the start of each race. These start pictures will be screened before the stewards in order to give them a close-up check of the riders tactics leaving the barrier. Another innovation will be the flashing of the camera finish picture of each close decision on a large screen under the main stand. This will furnish the fans with a life-sized reproduction of the horses at the wire. Jones and his engineering crew plan a final test of the new super-speed camera during a demonstration to turf and sports writers at Arlington on Sunday afternoon. It is possible that the start picture camera and the enlarged screening of finish pictures also will be demonstrated at this time.
