FREND REPLACES WINGFIELD . AS NARRAGANSETT STARTER PAWTUCKET, R. I., June 25. Robert B. "Bob" Frend, one of the most popular young officials in New England racing, and now serving at Rockingham Park, has been named as starter for the summer and fall meetings at Narragansett Park, it was announced today by Walter E. OHara, president and r-anaging director. He will replace Gi R. "Buddy" Wingfield, whose previous commit. .ients will keep him occupied at other tracks. Frend, forty-three years old, is .well known to racing enthusiasts in the East. He has officiated at scores of tracks, from northwestern Canada to Texas, and to New England, assuming his post at Rockingham in 1933. He also served at Agawam.
