DAVID W. lacked his usual early speed, moved up gamely on the outside, closed with a rilsh in the stretch and, wearing down the leaders inside the final sixteenth, drew clear near the end. DIXIE DAN, outrun early gained steadily on the outside, took a short lead entering the stretch, held on well in the drive, but was not good enough. AIRZON started slowly, moved up with a rush after going a half mile, gained a contending position in the stretch, but tired slightly near the end. INDIAN BOY tired in the drive. PERSIAN STEP, well placed in the early running, moved up gamely after going a half mile, came to the outside in the stretch and, finishing gamely, wore down KRAKERJAC in the last few strides. KRAKERJAC, well placed in the early running, took the lead in the stretch, held on gamely in the drive and Just failed to last. WONDER RUN, away slowly and far back early, closed with a rush, in the final quarter mile and finished gamely. HARVEYS CHOICE broke well, was in close quarters at the first turn, worked his way up between horses and finished gamely. SPARKLING ROSE moved up with a rush after going a half mile, took the lead on the lower turn, but tired badly in the drive. HAPPY VENTURE quit. Overweight Porte Andy, 2 pounds.
