HANCOCK CROP OUTSTANDING Master of Claiborne and Ellerslie Stud Enthusiastic Over This Years Sale Consignment. LEXINGTON, Ky., June 25. Thoroughbred breeders throughout the Blue Gras3 country, long famous for its production of great horses, are now busy preparing their thoroughbred yearlings for the annual auctions at Saratoga in August. Owners of the countrys racing stables will gather at the Saratoga ring to bid on the horses that will make turf history for the next few years. One of the largest and certainly one of the consignments that will attract the great-t est interest will be that of Arthur B. Hancock, owner of the noted Claiborne Stud in Kentucky and Ellerslie Stud in Virginia. For many years Mr. Hancock has been recognized as the countrys leading breeder of thoroughbreds. Each year his Saratoga consignment of colts and fillies attracts one of the largest sales crowds. Bidding for his youngsters is keen, and the yearlings" command good prices. The owner of Claiborne and Ellerslie Studs and other horse critics who have seen the 1937 consignment believe it is an outstanding crop of thoroughbreds. The 1937 yearlings to be offered by Claiborne and Ellerslie carry the same bloodlines as other champions, which have been produced at the two nurseries. The yearlings are by such successful sires as imported Sir Gallahad IH., imported Jacopo, Stimulus, Diavolo, James Town, Gallant Fox, Petee-Wrack, imported Pharamond JX, Pompey, imported Sickle, Sir Andrew, The Scout ana Display.
