The latter, away fast but lacking .the speed necessary to keep up, continued to drop back for a half mile, came to the extreme outside in the stretch and, closing with a rush, was rapidly getting, to the winner. PANIC RELIEF, displaying keen speed from the start, increased his advantage on the stretch turn and continued with good courage to the final eighth before faltering. AIRLAP raced wide and tired when the real test came. OUR CAROLYNE moved up strongly when entering the stretch, swerved to the inside in the final eighth and finished evenly.
