f ROCKINGHAM TURF NOTES f $ Jockey J. Deering, injured at Suffolk Downs, has recovered sufficiently to exercise horses and hopes to get back to work at Rockingham Saturday. Tom Thorp, presiding steward at Rockingham Park, is one of the busiest individuals in sport life in America. In addition to being chieftain of the officials at Rockingham Park, he holds a similar position at Narra-gansett Park, Suffolk Downs and Tropical Park. He is a football official in the autumn, refereeing college games on Saturday and pro games Sunday. He is also a newspaper columnist, having written a daily column on racing and other sports for the New York Journal and other Hearst papers for more than twenty years. Over 300 separate sets of racing colors now are registered at Rockingham Park.
