1 DETROIT TURF NOTES * s — — $ Miller Dunckle, Michigan State "treasurer, will present the owner of the winner of the Inaugural Handicap with a beautiful blanket. Black Brummel, considered one of the leading juveniles of Kentucky racing and ten others comprise the well balanced stable Charles F. Ferguson brought from Churchill Downs. Carter Curtiss, track superintendent, leased a fifty-stall barn adjacent to the Detroit track and erected a tent that will house thirty horses in the north end of the stabling quarters. William G. Kelly, the oldest official in point of service with the Detroit Racing Association, will serve as paddock and placing judge. Kelly had charge of the jockey quarters until last year when he took over the position of placing judge. Wise Duke, White Bread, D. D. McCarty, Imperial Betsy and Aerialist, the property of Mrs. M. M. Johr and in charge of James Gardner, left here Friday for Woodbine. The others of the Johr stable remaining here will be trained by William Johnson. J. E. Oros, who is pacing the American riders, arrived from Churchill Downs. Oros recently lost his apprentice allowance. George Oros, a younger brother, will do the light weight riding for the Oros stable, which consists of Watercure,, Morning Mail, Delovely, Cottingham, Molly Fly, Blue Field, Witan, Linden Way, Sweeping Dame and Jadva. E. E. Watson brought Doc Oster, Alghero, Mohio, Koriole, Morocco Gold and Morona from his farm at Mt. Vernon, Ohio. E. Babcock brought Miss Kentex and Field Day from Lexington. Edward P. Strong, general manager of Thistle Down and River Downs, arrived from Hollywood, Fla., and expects to remain for the greater part of the meeting. He is greatly improved in health. William Zakoor, Canadian owner and trainer, unloaded Wildmute, Windsor Chief and Tiny Trick, the property of Mrs. Harry Horkheimer and Zelitone, Strange Times, Evening Time, Combatant, Idle Elf, Culdee and Hi Ben, which race for Mrs. Zakoor and under his own colors. Zevson tops the stable of eight Joe Baum-bach unloaded at the Fair Grounds course Friday morning. Others in the stable are Delius, Lop Along, Delphine, Straight Thru, Sun Vine, Willow Plume and an unnamed daughter of Pippin. Cossack Girl, Burning Wood and All Lady, trained by Edward Baumgardner and the property of Mrs. A. A. Bowers, reached here from Churchill Downs.
