McGARVEY AT LINCOLN FIELDS Veteran Brings Powerful String to Crete Track — Dauber One of the Best Included in Stable. Robert McGarvey, who saddled many winners on the Chicago circuit in years gone by, ! is back at Lincoln Fields with another pow-. erful array of thoroughbreds. McGarvey, a veteran of the turf and an eminently successful trainer, is here with horses for E. E. Fogelson and William F. Morgan, wealthy Texas oil men, and for Miss Henrietta Bingham, daughter of the late Robert Worth Bingham, Louisville publisher and former ambassador to England. In years past McGarvey raced a useful sta-i ble under his own colors and later conditioned the thoroughbreds of Mr. and Mrs. Stuyvesant Peabody of Chicago. More recently and up until last year he handled the powerful Milky Way Farm stable and one season placed it at the top of the list of money-winning establishments. The more-renowned older members of Mc-Garveys present string are Dauber, runner-up to Lawrin in last years Kentucky Derby; The Fighter and Smart Crack. Among the two-year-olds under his wing is Downy Pillow, fleet daughter of Morvich, which literally ran away with the Debutante Stakes at Churchill Downs. Other horses in the stable are The Ranger, I Do Believe, Sweet Donna, Rapid Way, Drill Ahead, Flying Phar, Hurrigal, Majority Vote, Gray Jack, Strident, Little Ruler, Ex-volo, Winchat, Catch Question, Crumpet, Blue Harmony and Deception. McGarvey has made nominations to a majority of Lincoln Fields Stakes, eleven of which are to be staged during the twenty-seven day session opening Thursday, and the horses under his care may be seen in front frequently. The thoroughbred colony at Lincoln Fields is gradually filling and, with stables coming in daily, stalls at the Crete track are expected to reach a point of saturation early next week. Stables that cannot be accommodated at Lincoln Fields will be provided for at nearby Washington Park.
