OPPORTUNITY FOR BROWN BEN Pershall Gampaigner Gets Chance for Victory at Fairmount Park. Sun Hatter Racer Meeting Same Band Today He Defeated in Last Appearance Under Colors. COLLINSVILLE, 111., May 19.— The principal event on Saturdays card to be offered at Fairmount Park will give Brown Ben, a locally-bred and locally-owned three-year-old, which races for the Illinois turfman Sam Pershall another opportunity to turn back practically the same field of horses the son of Sun Hatter — Ethel Galliger vanquished in the running of the main attraction here last Wednesday when he .proved superior over Down Under, John Francis and Prince Argo. The latter was a disappointing favorite for that event. Tomorrows feature, for three-year-olds and older, carries a purse of ,200, and will be contested over the six furlongs distance, and is carded sixth on the program. Brown Ben turned in a sparkling performance in accounting for the Wednesday handicap, but it remains to be seen whether he is capable of again defeating Fast Move, the C. E. Deahl racer, which has been allotted top weight of 112 pounds, and Prince Argo, the flashy "Butsey" Hernandez star. -Although Prince Argos performance in the Valley Blue Handicap was disappointing to the majority of the fans, nevertheless, it is probable that the Hernandez sprinter will again be made the public choice for tomorrows event. CAPABLE CONTESTANTS. The remaining entrants in the Saturday fixture are also capable of giving good accounts of themselves. Although the C. E. Davison star, Chance Ray, has not as yet crossed the finish a winner here, his past record shows that, in top form, the aging son of Chance Play could account for the Saturday piece de resistance. Overcast skies and showers, which prevailed up to post time for the Friday program, did not cause changed track conditions. Indications were that the weather would clear up for Saturdays program and that a record crowd would be on hand, swelled by the presence of many physicians attending the American Medical Association convention meeting in St. Louis. This half-holiday card of eight races is made up of seven sprint events and one distance affair. Post time for the opening race on the program is 2:00 p. m.
