DYAK, racing in his best form and much the best, was forced to race in hand when in close quarters approaching the far turn, was lucky to secure clear racing room turning into the stretch, responded to strong urging in the last eighth and was up in the concluding stride. ROSE K. moved into command when called upon, saved ground, opened up a commanding lead entering the stretch, continued gamely, but could not withstand the winner. MISS DAMARA, hustled into the lead under good rating while saving ground, continued strongly after relinquishing the lead. BLACK NOSE, never a great distance back and racing on the outside the entire trip, finished gamely in a good effort. TRIP bore out under pressure in the final stages. LAKE SHORE lacked early speed. INDIAN BOY had no mishaps. PROOF had early .speed. The latter, under strong restraint in the early stages, responded to strong urging .in the stretch, but could not menace the winner. PRINCE PHAROAH, on the inside and in close quarters rounding the far turn, was steered to the outside for the final quarter and closed with a belated rash. GAWAINE, under occasional urging for three-quarters and under strong pressure, tired in the final eighth. ROCKRIM had no mishaps. GANNONNIC saved ground, but failed to reach the leaders when called UDon approaching the last quarter. The others were outrun.
