SHAKER-MAN was kept in a forward position from the start, responded to pressure in the final eighth . and finished with good courage to outlast VIGNETTE. The latter made a determined bid in the final eighth / and finished well, but came back slightly lamed. TACTICIAN closed fast from a slow beginning. WELL J READ responded in the final eighth and finished with a rush. PENELOPE D. was weakly handled all the v.ay and finished on her own courage. ECOPAN showed a flash of speed. ONLY GIRL faltered in the final eighth. MINEE-MO had no mishaps. BERSERK showed a flash of speed. IRON BAR was outrun. MILLCHIC had no mishaps. LADY BALKO was never a factor. BY THE SWORD showed speed from the start, jumped well all the way and held DRINTHORN safe at the finish. The latter moved up when urged the final half mile on the outside, was taken up after taking the last fence and sent up on the inside of the winner. CLOVISSE made a bad landing at the sixth fence, recovered quickly and held COURT TIME safe. The latter was outrun and was never a serious factor. 1TSABOY was outrun all the way. POMPEIUS lacked speed and had no excuses. QUAKERSTREET had a flash of early speed and then tired. Scratched— 73388:Irish Lancer, 131. Overweight — Itsaboy, 1 pound. ROCK MAKER showed high speed from the start while saving ground, responded to urging in the final eighth and shook off opposition, drawing away in the final sixteenth. JAMES N. saved ground all the way while racing close to the pace and then held on gamely to the finish. STRUT, on the outside entering the stretch, finished well to outlast SOIGNE. The latter was well up all the way and had no mishaps in the running. BILL D. was outrun the first part and could not menace the leaders. COUNT EDWARD was in close quarters at the far turn. BILL FARNSWORTH raced in nearest pursuit of the pace from the start, moved up with a rush when urged in the stretch, disposed of AERIAL BOMB, then held LEGENDA safe at the end. The latter was •well up all the way, was raced under pressure in the stretch run and finished with good courage on the outside. AT PLAY lacked early speed and, outrun the first part, responded in the stretch run and finished with a rush. AIR CHUTE lacked early speed, came to the outside in the stretch and closed ground fast at the end. NEAP raced well and had no mishaps. AERIAL BOMB showed early speed while saving ground. WHISPERER showed early speed from the start, but faltered steadily at the end. MY PORTER was placed under pressure rounding the far turn, but could ont menace the leaders. GRIDINE had no mishaps. SUNTIME was outrun in the early stages, was placed under pressure in the stretch and could not menace the leaders. SAMAKOV was away slowly and was outrun from the start. MAECLOUD had no mishaps. MONSWEEP quit badly in the stretch. MAY R. showed early speed under restraint, but bore out sharply rounding the stretch turn, then quit. DUST TO DUST began slowly, moved up fast and hung. POESY closed ground from a slow beginning. DINAH DESMOND showed a good effort. CHAMELEON had no excuses in the running. NOLLIP was never a factor.
