GLASBY saved ground while following the pace under strong restraint to the suitch, came around the leaders gradually as he responded willingly to energetic riding and, holding on gamely, withstood the rush of AHEAD. The latter, allowed to remain far out of it for three-quarters, swung to the outside on the stretch turn, continued to race wide while coming with fine belated speed through the final quarter and might have gotten up in a few more strides. CHANCE STAR, on the inside throughout, was cleverly rated, but tired slightly when the real test came. JEFFERSONTOWN held on well. STAR BUD tired when placed to a drive in the stretch. INVINCIBLE lost much ground and also faltered in the last quarter. EI1HTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Lady Madcap, May 24, 1922—1:44—4—113. Purse 00. TJ A~i GCk 3-year-olds. Claiming. CATALONIA bettered her position gradually on the outside, failed to withstand the bid of MOON BOW MISS soon after reaching the stretch, but regained command when she tired and drew out in the last thirty yards. MOON BOW MISS, well in hand for three-quarters, worked her way to the front under strong urging, but tired badly in the last sixteenth. STANISLAUS, also strongly restrained for about three-quarters, rallied only mildly when called upon and quit badly in the late stages. PARKWOOD CHIEF had no mishaps. BUCK BENNY quit after showing mild speed to the stretch. VENEER showed only a flash of early speed. Overweight — T. Marcus, 2j pounds; Veneer, 1.
