PETER ARGOS IMPRESSIVE WIN Runs Six Furlongs in 1:12%, Easily Accounting for Suffolk Feature. Secondary Attraction Falls to Bright View in New Track Record Time — Ideal Weather. BOSTON, Mass., May 19.— M. J. Whites Peter Argo, ridden by Andy LoTurco, took the lead at the stretch and drew off from all rivals down the final straightaway to win the three-quarters Lynn Press Club Purse, main contest on the program at Suffolk Downs this afternoon. The three-year-old son of Happy Argo was two and a half lengths in advance of D. J. Sullivans Grand Pageant as they went under the wire. The runner-up unleashed a great burst of speed in the final eighth of a mile to take the place by a neck over Paul Kelleys Float Away, which made the pace to the head of the home stretch. Grisette, which was prominent in the early pace battle, wound up fourth. LoTurco piloted the victor home in 1:12%. A warm and beautiful day brought a large crowd to the track to see a well-balanced program. Once again the handle held up well. Hoptown Lass dashed" away from the gate in front in the feature, but Float Away had taken the van before they completed a quarter of a mile. The Whiskaway gelding was unable, to draw clear, Ferdinand staying within a head of him as they went to the far turn. Ferdinand began to tire at this point, but Peter Argo moved up from fourth place to offer a strong challenge and assume command in the stretch. At the eighth post, LoTurco had drawn to a daylight advantage with the winner and he continued to pull away from the field from that point home. Grand Pageant was back in the pack during the early running, but moved up rapidly as they turned for home and continued to gain I ground down the stretch. She was unable to menace the winner, but went by Float Away for the place in the final sixteenth. ONLY FLASH OF SPEED. Hoptown Lass showed only a flash and then dropped completely out of it. Grisette dropped back steadily when the real drive began. Mrs. Floyd Wests Bright View romped to an easy victory in the four and a half furlongs Lawrence Purse for two-year-olds, secondary attraction on the card. Eddie Robart had little to do but sit still in the stretch to have the daughter of Brilliant half a dozen lengths in front of T. A. Sears Onisac as they passed the judges. There was a warm battle for the place, with Stroube and Collins Hard Lu just a nose off the runner-up. Glorious Time was fourth. The race was run in :53%, a new track record for the four and a half furlongs distance. Yellow Mask raced close to the winner on the turn, where she got her head in front briefly. She went very wide at the stretch and Bright View began to draw away at every stride, winning in romping fashion. ■ Yellow Mask stopped badly in the stretch I after going wide.
