EDWARDIAN moved up gradually during the first five-sixteenths, was taken to the outside when reaching the stretch and, responding gamely through the stretch, wore down BLOB VOLT inside the last seventy yards. BLOB VOLT was prominent from the start, disposed of LONG X. for the lead and, while holding on stubbornly in the drive, was not quite good enough. BLARE, on the outside all the way, while no match for the first two, held on willingly. LONG X." displayed good speed early, tiring steadily during the last three-sixteenths after losing considerable ground at the stretch turn. TOTACHE, away slowly, made up some ground. ARANMORE was unable to reach the leaders. SHESINIT saved ground all the way and tired in the last eighth. SECOND RACE 1 MILE. Clingendaal, Aug. 14, 1937—1:36—3—124. HIGH TENSION, slow to begin and outpaced early, moved up gradually on the inside rounding from the back stretch, was brought to the outside in the stretch and, responding gamely to hard urging, was along in the closing strides to wear down PEACEFUL. The latter had speed from the start, opened a good lead and, rated along in front, fought it out stubbornly when challenged. NABOB raced well placed all the way and held on well to the close, although unable to endanger the first two. GROUND OAK was unable to reach the leaders when placed under punishment. BRIGHT SOX, in close quarters at the first turn, was sent up fast on the outside down the back stretch, only to tire during the closing quarter mile. DREEL, under slight reserve while following along in pursuit of the pace established by BULL MOOSE, raced to the front when called upon, opened up a good lead and, kept under pressure, through fhe stretch, was never seriously threatened. WHOOPER began working his way to the leaders on the outside after rounding the far turn, held on willingly in the stretch drive and outlasted APPREHEND at the end. The latter, slow to begin and a trailer for the first half mile, came with good energy through the stretch run. COUNT COTTON attempted to come through on the inside leaving the back stretch, was caught in close quarters and had to be taken back. He was unable to close any ground through the stretch run. MARCA-BALA was unable to reach the leaders. BULL MOOSE quit badly. Overweight — Bull Moose, 1 pound. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. GRAUSTARK took command in the opening sixteenth, drew clear before the first quarter mile and, rated along in front, increased his lead coming into the stretch and was never seriously threatened. MAROC, | in nearest pursuit of the pace from almost the beginning, continued with good energy to the close. STABLE, away fast, lacked speed to keep the pace early, but came in a game fashion through the stretch run. LADY SOLACE was unable to better position under pressure. MUGAL was unable to reach the leaders. SHIN PLASTER, away slowly, was rushed up fast on the inside, but was made too much use of and tired steadily during the last three-sixteenths. BRIGHT VIEW, away with the leaders, moved up fast in the first quarter mile, shook off YELLOW MASK for the lead, drawing out fast in the last three-sixteenths. ONISAC, shuffled back at the start and unable to enter into contention early, came with a rush on the outside through the stretch, getting up in the closing strides to outlast HARD LU. The latter, unable to keep pace with the leaders after breaking alertly, saved considerable ground entreing the stretch and closed with good energy. GLORIOUS TIME, away fast, dropped back, but came gamely in the final drive. FIVE O FIVE was well placed early, but was unable to make up any ground when placed under punishment. GRAND PAGEANT was slow to settle into his best stride and raced far back until the closing five-sixteenths, then moved up readily when called upon to finish with good energy. FLOAT AWAY, hard hustled to get to the front, met determined early opposition from FERDINAND and was unable to go along when challenged by the first two. GRISETTE, well placed all the way, was unable to keep pace in the closing drive. HOPTOWN LASS was unable to keep up. FERDINAND tired steadily during the last five-sixteenths. LADY HAV was never far from the pace, raced to the front when BUTTERMAN began tiring, drew clear and, after meeting a bold bid from POST OFFICE, was being eased up at the end. POST OFFICE moved up gradually in the run through the back stretch, moved up determinedly straightening out in the stretch and held on gamely at the close. ANNIKIN, well placed and slightly reserved for the first three-quarters, finished willingly through the stretch run. HEAVY MIST made up some ground, although never a serious threat to the others. WAKITA made up some ground. BUTTERMAN displayed speed in the pace-making, but gave way steadily through the last three-sixteenths. FIDDLE FADDLE, away slowly, was up on the outside all the way and was unable to close any ground under punishment. PALKIN tired. The latter, well placed all the way, held on with good courage to the close. OZARK drew clear straightening out in the back stretch, was steadied along in front, but tired during the last quarter mile. MISS PECAN closed some ground after trailing early. BREEZING ALONG was unable to gain a prominent position. BLACKMAIL, reserved early, dropped back in the last three-eighths.
