Mrs. Rachel Mayer, widow of Levi Mayer, Chicago attorney, won a suit against the Y;n* ;S°vernment asking for the return of 05,639 with interest, which was paid as a tax on the ,000,000 estate left by her husband. Mrs. Mayer claimed that no tax should have been levied on one-third of the estate, her dower right. Her plea was upheld oy Federal Judge Sullivan. It is expected that the government will have to refund 00,000 to her.
