1 DETROIT TURF NOTES | $ $ Eleven horses, the property of Warren Wright and comprising the division of the Calumet Farm stable that Jack Hodgins is training, will arrive here Thursday. The horses of C. Goff, which arrived here last week from Beulah Park, have been registered with the secretary and consist of Anna Grand and the two-year-old Tottila, which will race in his own name, and the older The Spotter, which he is conditioning for Sharpe and Sanders. Goff is also training Rail Down and Pretty Hasty for J. E. Sar-geant. George Ogle, who has several horses at Suffolk Downs, stopped off here for a few days, en route from his Oklahoma home to Boston. Apprentice James Littrell, who rode his first winner May 28, 1938, at Agawam Park, loses his five pounds allowance Saturday. Littrell won the initial race of his career on Flying Bonny. Broadcaster and Oddesa Nancy were registered Wednesday by trainer C. E. Heins, who has the horses here for C. C. Cook. King Balboa and Marbold have been placed on the veterinarians list by the stewards. According" to William McGinnis, who is in charge of the jockey room, there are thirty-nine older riders and twenty-four apprentices licensed. J. W. Murphy, trainer of Miss Bull Dog, reports the filly having suffered a quarter crack. Murphy says the member is responding to treatment and*he hopes to have the filly under colors before the close of the Detroit meeting. Allegro, leading three-year-old in Charles Fishers Dixiana stable, worked a mile in 1:44 Wednesday morning. Trainer James Smith is considering sending the son of High Time to Delaware Park to fill his engagement in the Kent Stakes. Challedon and Johnstown are eligible to this stake. Jack Hicks, who formerly trained horses owned by I. J. Cohen and Florence Dunkin, took over to train for H. H. Heer, Columbus sportsman, the horses Pirada, a two-year-old daughter of Pilate; Miss Democracy, a juvenile daughter of Bob Drury, and three-year-old Oddesa Agnes. Jockey Frank Grill, who makes his home at Bedford, Ohio, leaves for North Randall Park Thursday. Jockey C. Beasy checked in Wednesday, coming from Louisville. In addition to Barbara S., Cynical and Miss Apprehend, which have been under colors here, A- C. Whalen, St. Paul, Minn., horseman has Romeo and Loudoun to round out his stable.
