I I 1 DETROIT TURF NOTES | t € Jack O. Keene, Lexington breeder and owner, was a visitor Tuesday. Keene has ten horses in training here in charge of J. W. Murphy. A license to ride has been taken out by jockey N. L. Pierson, who arrived Tuesday from Narragansett Park. W. L. Dowling, of Northville, Mich., and son of W. J. Dowling, breeder and assistant | to Joseph Frost, member of the Michigan Racing Commission, is training his own horses, consisting of the seasoned Carlade, Strolling Home, Gold Color, Poet Prince and the two-year-olds, Shawassee, Lorellen and Miss Morsel. The latter are the progeny of Morsel. He also has the juveniles Lady Ronald and Ronalds Dream, both by Sir Ronald. Norman LeBlanc, the former jockey, who has been successful since turning to training thoroughbreds, was an arrival from Louisville, with Ebony Parasol, which races for D. Macry, and Belle James, Speedy Squaw, Dusty Ariel, Lady Nadi and Charm-ette, for A. and H. B. Moore. The latter was claimed during the Churchill Downs meet ing. Apprentice W. Page, under contract to W. R. Padgett, turned his book over to H. C. "Red" Dodson, who is also making the riding 1 engagements for the veteran, Frankie Grill. Harry Saladin, who is without horses here, is booking engagements for apprentice Sam Weisman, who is under contract to W. C. Buck. Due to increased weight, Hubert LeBlanc has decided to give up saddle work and follow his brother, Norman, in the training end of racing. Hubert took out a license here today and will train Sound Wave and Tache-one, which race for his elder brother, C. P. LeBlanc, and himself, and Fair Spy, for Mr. and Mrs. Jay Burton, Danville, Ky., patrons.
