MISS DIAMOND, hustled into command and steadied around the turns, was placed to mild pressure in the final drive and withstood DOUBLE DIP. The latter, lacking early speed, came to the outside for the final quarter and finished strongly. MART, hustled from the start, tired in the last forty yards. ETHYLN had no mishaps. SAM K. lacked early speed. PHIL WRIGHT could not improve under pressure. SHINING SEA was outrun. BRILLIANT BAG had early speed. The others had no excuses. JOCKANA, unable to draw clear under a hustling ride, tired in the closing strides. OVER ROSE finished gamely. ENAGALA had nothing left. ABBY B., away well, lacked speed, but closed resolutely. LEANA G. could not keep up. TIBI faltered in the drive. The others were outrun. BETWEEN BELLS forced the pace from the start, took a short lead in the stretch and, continuing with strong energy, withstood SUN HENRY. The latter, away slowly and racing on the outside throughout, made a bold bid in the final drive, but hung in the closing strides. SIOUX CHIEF, never a great distance back and unable to secure clear racing room in the last half, held on resolutely. EDDIE HELCK had good early speed, but tired in the closing strides. FLIGHT OF GOLD moved to the leaders with a rush, but tired in the last seventy yards. THE MAYOR lacked early speed. ZEKIEL failed to respond to pressure. TITLE QUEEN had a burst of early speed.
