Dozen Three-Year-Olds Go in North Hills Purse Anthracite, Galloping Gus and Dry Fly Meet at Jamaica Today JAMAICA, L. I., N. Y., May 2.— dozen three-year-olds have been named for the ,000 North Hills Purse at a mile and a sixteenth that serves as a feature at Jamaica tomorrow. There are several recent winners in this test, notably Peter A. Mar-keys Anthracite, Gustave Rings Galloping Gus and Cain Hoy Stables Dry Fly. In his last start here, Anthracite beat Joseph M. Roeblings Harbourton by two lengths with W. Goadby Loews Khaki a length and a half away in fourth place. Harbourton benefits by a six-pound weight shift tomorrow, as does Khaki, but it is doubtful if that will be enough to turn the tables. Khaki beat Anthracite in an earlier race in which Frank Kearns charge lost many lengths by going wide and was also a little short of work. Galloping Gus is a double winner at the meeting and beat Linda Farms Jaialia, Dry Fly and Harbourton in his last start. However, those victories were at six furlongs, which is about as far as Gus likes to gallop. Dry Fly scored a surprise victory over Mirabeau here at six furlongs, then came back with a poor race behind that horse and Short Brook Farms Bannerday. The latter has been in the money in all three of his starts here and was an easy winner in his Florida finale, giving him an excellent chance in this field. A. G. Vanderbilts Bar Sinister will also have a following on the strength of a sprint victory in his last start. The Bahram colt finished very fast in that race and may do as well at tomorrows longer distance. M. C. Erlangers Piping By, a filly with only 108 pounds to carry, is another dangerous factor in an open race, and beat a good field of her own sex last week. Sol Rutchicks Roaming Feet beat Twin Oaks Farms Black Rover in his last two starts, proving that he is at least champion over that horse, but those races were claimers. Tomorrows supporting card is made up of maiden and claiming races with the exception of the Sapphire Purse for juvenile fillies. This dash at five furlongs has attracted 13, including several candidates for Saturdays Fashion Stakes at Belmont Park.
